The small island developing states of the Caribbean region exist in a dynamic equilibrium of environmental, social, economic and political pressures. One of our greatest challenges is to utilize our limited natural resources in such a manner that we obtain maximum benefits without exhausting or destroying them. Water and Sanitation Services are basic to the socio-economic development of any country. For us to achieve sustainable development we must find a balance between this sector and the other sectors of our country. Hence the need for an integrated approach, so as to reduce conflicts and improve our stewardship over these natural resources. This is the very essence of sustainable development.
