WW2BW – White Water to Blue Water

WW2BW, also known as White Water to Blue Water, represents an international alliance consisting of international organizations and enterprises, universities, governments, financial and social institutions, non-profit organizations, general corporations as well as non-governmental organizations. Strictly speaking WW2BW focuses the stimulation and the general advancement concerning integrated watershed and marine ecosystem-based management, efforts and work.

Founded in 2002 at the World Summit on Sustainable Development, also known as the so-called Johannesburg Summit, WW2BW supported more than 100 partnerships. In this context it has also be mentioned that WW2BW was formally launched at a Wider Caribbean “Partnership Conference” which took place in Miami in March 2004.

The main focus of the efforts and the general work of WW2BW do consist in the promotion of different regional cooperation and the strengthening of the development of country capacity. Consequently, WW2BW strives to address land-based sources of marine pollution, to advance fisheries, tourism as well as agricultural and forestry practices. Further work is based on the protection of coastal areas. So WW2BW tries to prevent the degradation of such areas.

In order to realize its work, effort and main objectives, WW2BW want to aid, promote and encourage appropriate partnerships that stand up for sustainable environmental protection and management within the whole Caribbean region. In other words it can be said that WW2BW, strictly speaking White Water to Blue Water, draws upon the fostering of special partnerships and cooperation in the Caribbean.

WW2BW presents its work and main objectives on its website WW2BW.org. Strictly speaking this website is actually designed in order to support and advance the interaction between different stakeholders that are mainly interested in Water Resource related topics. Furthermore, it can be said that the website WW2BW.org will be updated regularly – in other words: once in a month. This makes it possible to present always the latest information about Water Resource, sound water and ecosystem management.
